Who needs to take the citizenship test?

Can I be exempt from the exam?
Yes. The exam is just one way to meet the knowledge requirement: approved SFI (special course D), upper-secondary or municipal adult education grades, a university degree, or Tisus all work too. Fully exempt are stateless people born in Sweden under 21, Nordic citizens who become citizens by notification, and people with a disability or other reasons.
Will there be a language test too?
Yes, but not before autumn 2027 — the reform is introduced in stages, and the civics test comes first.
